Duy – Building Confidence and a Future in Tech

3 min read

“My name is Duy, and I’ve been with Drive Forward Foundation for two months.”

For Duy, joining Drive Forward was the start of a new chapter. After taking part in a one-month placement with iTrust, he found himself in an environment that encouraged learning, creativity, and growth. “It’s a very nice place to study and to help myself find what I like for the future – especially in my industry,” he says.

During his placement, Duy discovered new skills and confidence. “The top three skills I’ve learned are communication, time management, and creativity,” he explains. “I’ve learned how to communicate with my team members, manage my time better, and think creatively about challenges.”

Learning Through Experience

Duy’s placement gave him a chance to put theory into practice — and to see what kind of work inspires him most. “In the future, I would love to be an ethical hacker,” he says with a smile. “I’m really interested in that, and I hope one day I can make that my career.”

His manager, Sabina from iTrust, was deeply impressed by Duy’s motivation and quick thinking:

“Our team was amazed by how eager and smart Duy is,” she says. “He’s very young, but it’s incredible how quickly he caught up with what we were working on. He always asked the right questions — small but sharp ones — and you could immediately see that he got it.”

She adds that the experience was rewarding not just for Duy, but for the company too.

“Between his first day and his last day, we saw a real difference in his confidence. It’s inspiring for us, because it shows how much potential young people like Duy have — and how valuable partnerships like this are.”

Growing with Drive Forward

Through Drive Forward’s employability support, Duy has gained hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to explore his interests in technology. The placement helped him see what he’s capable of — and what kind of future he wants to build.

Duy now looks ahead with excitement and purpose. “I’ve learned so much already,” he says. “This opportunity helped me find what I enjoy and what I want to do next.”

Duy’s story shows how opportunity, guidance, and belief can help young people from care discover their strengths and ambitions.

At Drive Forward Foundation, we’re proud to help young people like Duy develop real-world skills, grow in confidence, and take their first steps toward meaningful, lasting careers.
