Looking to start a career in the Civil Service and gain valuable experience in public services? The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is recruiting Operational Delivery Administrative Officers to support people accessing Universal Credit and other services.

About the Role
Based in a Jobcentre, you’ll be part of the front-of-house team, supporting people with their Universal Credit claims and helping them access the right support. This is a varied, people-focused role where you’ll be working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing face-to-face support to claimants
- Encouraging and supporting customers to manage their claims online
- Offering guidance and signposting to further support
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
- Supporting individuals to build confidence using digital tools
What We’re Looking For
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Confidence working with a diverse range of people
- Ability to use digital systems
- A calm, empathetic and professional approach
- Ability to manage a varied workload and adapt to changing priorities
Key Details
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Working pattern: Between 7:45am – 8:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:45am – 5:00pm Saturday
- Contract: 18 months
- Flexible working options: Available subject to business needs
Eligibility
This role is part of the Going Forward into Employment (GFiE) scheme and is open to:
- Care leavers who have spent at least 13 weeks in care, including some time after age 16
- Aged 18+
- Engaged with a supporting organisation who can refer you
