We believe all care leavers should receive bespoke, easy-to-access mental health support. That’s why we’re bringing together some of the key people who have the power to make a difference at a special event, focusing on care experienced young people and mental health.
Anton Babey, CEO of Drive Forward Foundation said:
“Employment is one of the single biggest factors that can positively transform the life of a young person leaving care, but mental health is one of the main barriers to progress.
Nearly half of looked after children have mental health disorder. That’s far too high, which is why we’re bringing people together and proposing some realistic and achievable solutions that can really make a difference for the prospects of young people leaving care.”
Over the next two weeks we’re going to be talking more about mental health and proposing some important practical solutions for how charities, local authorities and government can come together to bring about change.
Our young people and mental health stakeholder summit, in collaboration with Catch 22’s National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum (NLCBF), is taking place on Tuesday 9th November. We’ll be sharing more information on our website and social media channels, so stay tuned for news and details about how you can help support our campaign.
